Ford’s factory in Canton, Michigan, opened in 1960.
It was initially designed to make body parts for the Ford Model T, but it eventually expanded into making body parts as well.
In 1966, the company added a new plant to produce body parts, including the rear seats and trunk.
The factory now produces about 1.4 million Ford parts each year.
Ford built the factory in a new facility in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn in 1974.
The facility was named for John Dearborn, the first Ford CEO, and opened in 1974, three years after the Ford Corporation was incorporated in Dearborn.
It’s now the world headquarters for Ford.
Ford started manufacturing in the United States in 1976.
It moved production of the Ford Mustang and Ford Mustang GT to the Dearborn plant in 1974 after Ford started producing cars in Dearborne.
Ford had planned to start making cars in the U, too, but the company decided to build in Cantons and Michigan instead.
Ford made more than $4 billion in car parts sales in the 1980s and 1990s.
